Venue Atmosphere
Oak Mountain State Park is the largest state park in Alabama with roughly 12,000 acres. It has 6 lakes, a golf course, cabins, and newly refurbished camp ground. The trail head where the race starts also has multiple showers and bathrooms as well as a bike wash station. It’s also close to hotels, restaurants, breweries, and the Birmingham airport.
This is a mountain bike trail race, not a gravel race. We pride ourselves on the quality and variety of trail in this course and use double track and road sparingly for passing opportunities.
“Hey, thanks for putting on an amazing race! That was absolutely the best long-distance MB course I’ve ever ridden. Demanding every step of the way, tons of climbing, tested a variety of MB skills, and nearly all singletrack. Unlike most epic courses, which typically have copious dirt roads and pavement. And the course markings were idiot-proof. Congrats on pulling it all off!” – B.K.
